From Mrs. Hicks' desk… I will begin scheduling conferences so that we may discuss the progress your child has made this first nine weeks of school. A letter will be sent home with times available for us to meet. I look forward to meeting with you!
This Weeks' Focus
Language Arts Our Sight Words this week are: have, is
We will read Armadillo's Orange for our Scott Foresman Unit 2 story this week. This unit focuses on habitats, their characteristics and the animals that live there. We will also begin our study of pumpkins, their life cycle and the many ways we use them. Amazing Words for this week: armadillo, burrow, tortoise, rattlesnake, grubs, insects
Don't forget to wear black and white on Friday! Math Our colors this week are black and white. We will: * make an ABC pattern using fall foam stickers * practice recognizing coins and their amounts * practice place value and counting by tens *practice measurement of everyday items | Important Dates! October 15th: Fall Carnival October 25th: Fifties Day November 11: Veteran's Day (no school)
Field Trip What a wonderful trip to Tate Farms! The kids had so much fun playing on the new playground, petting the animals and, of course, the hay ride! I hope you are all enjoying your pumpkins-make sure to check my website, I have posted photos of the kids with their own pumpkin-so cute!
Thank you to all the parents who came to chaperone, I couldn't have done it without you! I think you all made some new friends, too!
