We work hard in Kindergarten but understand that "play" is also important for its' own educational benefits. Fun Centers usually last approximately 15-20 minutes. We strive to have Fun Center time several times a week so that the children have time to rotate to a different center each day.
Art Center: Tubs with markers, crayons, stickers, stamps, stencils and plenty of paper!
The children LOVE to have the freedom to draw, write or color anything they want!
This center not only fuels their imagination but it also hones fine motor development which in turn aids handwriting.
Block Building: Blocks of varying size and shape
They love building with blocks to create buildings, ramps, castles, towers, even a replica of Monticello!
Building with blocks improves hand-eye coordination, helps to develop spatial awareness and encourages logical thinking.
Puzzles/Games: Who doesn't like playing games or piecing together puzzles? Children learn to make choices and decisions while playing games-not to mention, sportsmanship! Completing puzzles allows children to utilize critical thinking and experiment with trial and error in order to be successful.
